The 5 laws:
1.Repeal of Don’t ask don’t tell
 2.Defense of Marriage act
3.A law that says sexual acts between people of the same sex has been legal nation wide in the us in 2003 US supreme court ruling Lawrence verses Texas
4. Mathew Shepard Act
5. Don’t ask don’t tell

I think the don’t ask don’t tell law is important because it limits gay people from doing one more thing in their life. If someone who was gay really wanted to be in the army and serve his country then he wouldn't be able to because he is interested in the same sex as himself. This law means that people who are gay can not serve in the army. When people say don’t ask don’t tell they are saying that if you want to be in the army and are gay don’t say anything about it, just hide it and then you can serve in the army. This law also says that they can not talk about their homosexual relationships or marriages while they are serving in the United States military. I think this is important because people in the army who aren't gay may feel really uncomfortable  being around them and taking showers with them, so this law comforts people in the army as well. With this law some people may think that straight people don’t want to hang out with homosexual people but all it is helping them feel more comfortable while serving their country. This relates to how women are exluded from units with a dedicated infantry role. This means that they can not fight on foot but they can serve in artillery roles. With this limitation it is very similar to how gay people can not searve in the army unless they pretend that they are not gay. Women and gay people still have limits in their life but not straight white men. That is why I think the don’t ask don’t tell law is important.
